THE ROLE - FLOOR MANAGER

We are looking for an experienced Floor Manager to join The Roof Gardens (TRG) and one of our restaurants. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in multiple dining concepts and as a pivotal member of our front of house team, you will support the Restaurant Manager (RM)and Assistant Restaurant Manager (ARM) in leading and developing a top performing team. You will ensure the effective and efficient running of daily restaurant activities, ensuring the team, processes and operations are in place to ensure first class service, whilst becoming a familiar and friendly face for our members.

Your main responsibilities will include:

Operations & Financial Management

  • Implement and support operational strategies/decisions made by the Assistant /Restaurant Manager, ensuring efficient smooth service delivery.
  • Supervise the restaurant team and day-to-day operations to ensure the smooth running of each service and look after our members while they dine, drink and enjoy the club.
  • Manage and work with the team to prepare the restaurant before service, ensuring all stock and supplies are ready, bins are empty, handheld devices are charged, point of sale (POS) systems are working, PDQ machines are charged etc.
  • Ensure the restaurant team provides service inline with Company standards.
  • Ensure you and the restaurant team are aware and understand the menu/ new menus, daily specials, vegetarian/vegan, party bookings and service responsibilities. All team members must attend menu tasting and be issued with comprehensive notes on all dishes served.
  • Work with ARM/RM to ensure all menus and allergen sheets are up to date and available in all stations. And display an excellent knowledge of all food menus, its allergens and ingredients.
  • Undertake the day-to-day inventory needs, ensuring stock levels are maintained and orders are placed timely.
  • Support ARM with regular inventory audits in coordination with stock controller
  • Assist with financial tasks such as handling daily receipts, managing cash flow, and overseeing point-of-sale systems.
  • Contribute to financial reporting by providing accurate data and observations.
  • Train and supervise waitstaff assigning tasks and providing guidance.
  • Perform administrative tasks such scheduling meetings as required.
  • Ensure you understand and follow relevant SOP manual(s) inside and out.
  • Deputise for ARM/RM as necessary.

Members and Service

  • Support the ARM in leading our exceptional Restaurant team to set up and deliver a unique guest experience.
  • Uphold impeccable service standards, guiding the restaurant team in delivering an exceptional dining experience.
  • Utilise your excellent hosting skills, outgoing personality and great personal style, to build excellent relationships with Members and guests. Answer their queries, deal with complaints and ensure their Member Journey is the best it can be. Ensure Management is made aware of any issues as quickly as possible.
  • Deal with difficult situations as they arise; pre-empt issues such as food delay from the kitchen and offering complimentary drinks or similar, to smooth over any conflict
  • Work collaboratively with ARM/RM and Head Chef and promote positive communication between floor teams, management and kitchen team to ensure seamless food and service delivery.
  • Communicate clearly with the Kitchen and Bars teams to ensure they are aware of members’ and guests’ requirements at all times.
  • Be the primary point of contact for customer service within the restaurant and evaluate (and escalate where necessary) immediate customer feedback and issues
  • Enhance offerings and curate memorable experiences for our members/guests.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of engagement with the Members community and establish relationships as appropriate.
  • Effectively manage multitasking and high-pressure situations while maintaining service standards.
  • Ensure a good knowledge of Members Events’ programmes at TRG.

People/Team

  • Support ARM/RM identify and recruit talent to Food and Beverage operations of TRG in line with the Company’s policy and procedures
  • Ensure all new team members receive full inductions and training e.g. service standards, POS/reservation systems, and any other procedures or systems required to fulfil their job.
  • Support ARM/RM in management of staff scheduling, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts.
  • Develop and lead creative and engaging training programs with support from ARM/RM.
  • Supervise and guide the restaurant team during shifts, to perform their roles to the best of their abilities providing immediate oversight and direction, fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Address team issues on the floor and provide real-time solutions, escalating to management where necessary.

Compliance and Health & Safety

  • Monitor and maintain standards of presentation not only of the team but of dining/ public areas (cleanliness and maintenance) and report any defaults to the relevant departments.
  • Coordinate with cleaning staff and vendors for regular maintenance and urgent repairs.
  • Ensure adherence to health & safety, and hygiene regulations and any other company policy and procedures.
  • Lead and ensure full adherence and compliance to the premises licence operating requirements.

  • Proven experience managing daily (restaurant) operations , ideally in a similar luxury /high end, ‘lifestyle’ F&B environment
  • A passion for food and beverage and for delivering exceptional guest experiences, with a commitment to service excellence
  • An experienced hands-on, proactive and enthusiastic manager with excellent team-building skills and the ability to motivate
  • Passion for championing diversity, equality, equity and inclusion
  • An eye for detail, with the ability to look ahead and pre-empt issues or challenges
  • Good level of English spoken and written with strong numeracy skills
  • An excellent communicator with strong organisational skills and a great memory for names and faces
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to operational challenges.
  • Enthusiasm to develop your own skills and knowledge, plus those around you
  • You will possess a warm, friendly, characterful demeanour and take genuine pleasure in supporting your colleagues
  • Punctual, reliable, diplomatic and calm under pressure
  • Familiarity with reservation systems and administrative tasks.
  • Strong network within the hospitality industry to enhance the restaurant's reputation and support us in our recruitment needs
  • A desire to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
