Project Engineer

Milton Keynes

We do what we say
That’s why we need people like you, to help us deliver on our promises, people who enjoy getting things done!

We are looking for a Project Engineer to join our Anglian Water Alliance team, supporting the delivery of capital investment projects across the Western region.

Working closely with the Delivery Programme Manager, Lead Project Engineer and Area Operations Teams, you'll play a key role in developing and delivering projects that reduce operational risk, improve network performance and support the successful delivery of both planned programmes and emergency works.

Here are some of the activities you will be involved with:

  • Supporting the delivery of planned capital projects and major emergency works across the Anglian Water network.
  • Working with operational teams to identify engineering solutions that minimise operational risk and deliver value for the client.
  • Developing project scopes, engineering solutions and cost-benefit proposals to support investment decisions.
  • Undertaking root cause analysis and evaluating engineering options, including the use of innovative and "No Dig" solutions where appropriate.
  • Monitoring project progress, providing regular updates on programme, cost and delivery, and ensuring project information is accurately recorded within corporate systems.
  • Collaborating with internal teams, delivery partners and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with technical standards.
  • Preparing project documentation throughout the project lifecycle, including governance documentation, design risk information, programmes and customer communications.
  • Supporting compliance with CDM Regulations and promoting a positive health and safety culture across all project activities.

We would love to hear from you if:

You have experience delivering civil engineering or water infrastructure projects and enjoy working collaboratively to develop practical engineering solutions. Whether your background is in clean water, wastewater or wider utility infrastructure, you'll be confident managing multiple projects, coordinating stakeholders and supporting delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Able to interpret technical information, assess project risks and make sound engineering decisions while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme requirements. Experience working within the water utilities sector, an Alliance environment or under NEC contracts would be advantageous.

Additionally, you’ll have excellent communication and organisational skills, and are comfortable working across multiple sites and building strong relationships with operational teams, clients and delivery partners. Above all, you'll be proactive, solutions-focused and committed to delivering high-quality outcomes while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.

A full UK driving licence is required, as travel across the Western region will form part of the role.
