Supply Chain Manager

£55,000 - £60,000

Brighton

We're ambitious!

That’s why we’re keen to hear from determined and motivated people like you, people who are ambitious for themselves and for those around them.

We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Supply Chain Manager to join our infrastructure delivery team supporting our client Southern Water. Based in Falmer, this is a hands-on operational role embedded within the contract delivery team, with dual reporting lines—directly into the Operational Contract and functionally to the Head of Supply Chain Water.

The Role:

You will be responsible for managing local procurement activities across a portfolio of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, ensuring a cost-effective, timely, and compliant supply of materials aligned with central Group Supply Chain policies and procedures.

Here are some of the activities you will be involved in…

  • Leading and developing a small material purchase order administration team, including full line management and development responsibilities
  • Managing supplier negotiations and local performance monitoring to secure quality, cost, and delivery terms
  • Overseeing goods receipting and resolving invoice queries in line with system governance
  • Ensuring accurate procurement of project-specific materials—including construction, potable water, and wastewater products—in line with industry regulations
  • Delivering cost savings to offset the cost of your role and support team
  • Supporting development of local procurement strategies aligned with broader Group initiatives
  • Monitoring supplier performance against KPIs and driving continuous improvement
  • Collaborating closely with project managers, estimators, and engineers to align procurement with delivery timelines
  • Ensuring compliance with all sourcing, tendering, and internal approval processes

We would love to hear from you if…

You have at least seven years’ procurement experience within civil engineering, water, or wastewater infrastructure, with solid knowledge of construction materials and pipeline systems. You're skilled in supplier and subcontractor negotiation and have proven experience using ERP systems (ideally IFS) and Microsoft Office.

You’re a confident team leader, comfortable managing changing priorities under pressure, and you combine analytical strength with a sharp attention to detail. A strong grasp of procurement regulations and a commitment to sustainable purchasing practices are essential.
