Senior Health and Safety Advisor

Up to £55,000

Horsham

We are innovative
That’s why we need people like you to help us. People who enjoy finding new ways to solve problems and get things done.

We have a opportunity for a qualified Senior Health & Safety Advisor to join our team working with our client HS2.

This is a key role supporting our operational teams to deliver work safely, consistently and in line with best practice H&S standards. You’ll play a hands-on role across multiple sites, working closely with teams on the ground to provide practical, engaging and effective safety support.

This isn’t a desk-based advisory role — you’ll be out on site, building relationships, understanding day-to-day challenges and helping to shape solutions that genuinely work in practice.

Here are some of the activities you will be involved in…

  • Carrying out regular site inspections and supporting safe systems of work
  • Leading and supporting accident and incident investigations
  • Advising operational teams on health and safety requirements and improvements
  • Promoting positive safety behaviours through engagement and site presence
  • Delivering ABC tours (Attitude, Behaviour and Culture)
  • Encouraging safety observations and hazard reporting across sites
  • Identifying gaps in H&S processes and supporting improvements to systems and procedures
  • Supporting tenders and bids with health and safety input
  • Communicating legislative changes and supporting implementation of new practices
  • Working with teams to ensure safe working conditions across varied site environments

We would love to hear from you if…

You are an experienced Health & Safety professional with a strong operational background and the ability to influence and engage teams at all levels. You’ll be confident working in fast-paced environments and comfortable operating across multiple sites.

You’ll have a strong understanding of current HSE legislation, along with at least 3–5 years’ experience in a similar advisory role within construction, utilities or infrastructure.

A NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent) is essential, along with Tech IOSH membership, with progression towards Grad IOSH or equivalent desirable.

Strong communication skills are key, along with a practical, solutions-focused approach and good IT skills including Microsoft Office and database systems.
