About us

Wentworth Club is one of the world’s finest private members Golf and Country Clubs, famous for its outstanding three Championship golf courses, in addition to a luxury Tennis & Health Club. The Club is surrounded and entwined within the Wentworth Estate, one of the most prestigious private estates in the London suburbs where many of the world’s premier golfers have their home.

The Senior Groundsman is a supervisory role, responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the Grounds and Gardens around the Club including the preparation of the Tennis Courts, ensuring that the highest of standards in landscaping and gardening is delivered daily. It will be the responsibility of the Senior Groundsman to allocate a daily work schedule to the team.

Daily tasks include:

  • Preparing daily work schedules for the team
  • Liaising with Head of Department on planned working schedules
  • Pro-active planning
  • Delivering training to the team and updating the relevant paperwork
  • To ensure the team are following SOP guidelines
  • Cutting grass (pedestrian and ride-on)
  • Operating equipment like strimmers and hedge cutters
  • Blowing leaves and clearing paths
  • Weeding, pruning, watering and planting
  • Maintenance of the Tennis Courts
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a horticultural position
  • The job involves working outdoors in all weather conditions and it is a physical and demanding role
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels (internal staff, management & members)
  • To be computer literate using Microsoft software

  • Must also be able to work without supervision and prioritise workload
  • Executes additional ad-hoc tasks to meet the business objectives of the department as directed by the Head of Department
  • To proactively identify areas around the site needing further attention
  • The ability to always withhold private and confidential information

Qualifications & Requirements

  • A clean driving licence is essential
  • A good understanding of health and safety at work
  •  To have at least NVQ Level 2 (or similar) in Horticulture
  •  Chainsaw certificates desirable
  •  PA1 and PA6 desirable
