Hours: 40 per week

A co-educational private day senior school in Solihull, West Midlands. Catering for 1200 students and teachers daily. We offer a core feeding of morning break, lunch and sixth form cafe with lots of hospitality. This is a term-time only role working 42 weeks. Additional benefit to this location is free parking on site.

We are looking for a hospitality assistant to join our team at one of our prestigious locations in Solihull.

Please note this role is Tuesday - Saturday.

Working hours will be 08.00 - 16.00 but are subject to change to suit hospitality needs so flexibility is a must.

Start date for the role will be Monday 5th January 2026.

You will ideally have previous experience of working within a fast-paced catering environment as a hospitality assistant or supervisor.

You will enjoy what you do, working with a great team, for a company fanatical about food serving wonderful customers.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS (TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES)
Hospitality and Service

• Provide friendly, efficient, and professional service to pupils, staff, and guests.
• Assist with setting up and serving food and beverages for dining rooms, hospitality functions, and special school events.
• Ensure all service areas are presented to a high standard before, during, and after service.
• Respond promptly and courteously to customer requests, ensuring an excellent dining experience.

Food Preparation and Presentation

• Assist with the preparation of light meals, snacks, and beverages as directed by Manager or Senior Person.
• Ensure food is presented attractively and in accordance with school and company standards.
• Support with replenishing food and beverage stations during service.

Cleaning and Hygiene

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness across all hospitality and service areas, including dining rooms, kitchens, and event spaces.
• Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations, ensuring compliance with company and legal standards.
• Dispose of waste responsibly, ensuring recycling and composting practices are followed.

Team Support and Communication


• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
• Provide support for colleagues during events or absence, ensuring all tasks are completed to a high standard.
• Communicate effectively with team members to ensure dietary needs, allergen requirements, and timelines are met.
Event and Function Assistance
• Assist in setting up, serving, and clearing down for events, functions, or hospitality services.
• Ensure high-quality service delivery in line with Thomas Franks standards.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Attend team meetings, briefings, and training sessions as required.
• Uphold a professional appearance and high standards of personal hygiene.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by the Chef Manager or Senior Sous Chef.
• Provide occasional support to other Thomas Franks locations or teams when needed.

PERSON SPECIFICATION (Skills, Competencies & Abilities)

• Organised and detail-oriented with strong time management skills.
• Proactive, adaptable, and reliable in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge and Competencies
• Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience working in a professional kitchen environment is desirable but not essential.
