Role Overview
The Logistics Controller will take ownership of all import and export processes, ensuring the smooth and compliant movement of goods across international borders. This role will also play a key part in driving continuous improvement within the logistics and warehouse functions — optimising efficiency, reducing costs, and improving performance through data-driven KPI management and operational excellence.


Skills & Experience
Proven experience in logistics, import/export, or supply chain management — ideally within the FMCG or food manufacturing sector.
Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, Incoterms, and customs clearance processes.
Experience managing third-party logistics providers and freight forwarders.
Proficiency in ERP/WMS systems and Excel-based data analysis.
Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and negotiation skills.
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
Continuous improvement mindset — experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies is advantageous

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities
Imports & Exports
Manage all import and export operations, including documentation, customs compliance, freight forwarding, and liaising with suppliers and logistics partners.
Ensure all shipments comply with UK, EU, and international trade regulations and food safety standards.
Negotiate and maintain strong relationships with freight forwarders, hauliers, and customs agents to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery.
Monitor shipment progress, resolve delays, and maintain accurate tracking records.
Logistics & Warehouse Management
Oversee day-to-day logistics operations, ensuring optimal flow of goods from suppliers to production and from factory to customer.
Work closely with the warehouse team to improve space utilisation, stock accuracy, and dispatch efficiency.
Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across warehouse and logistics operations — e.g. delivery accuracy, turnaround time, cost per shipment, and inventory performance.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, service, and cost-effectiveness.
Support planning for seasonal peaks, new product launches, and promotional campaigns.
Continuous Improvement & Leadership
Lead initiatives to streamline logistics processes, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
Drive a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the logistics and warehouse teams.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality, and Production to ensure seamless operations.
Prepare regular reports on logistics performance, cost analysis, and improvement progress for senior management.
