Garden - New Park Manor Hotel

Contract: Permanent
Salary: £13.50-£14.00 per hour plus service charge

Currently undergoing a multi-million-pound refurbishment programme, with a phased re-opening from April, 2024 is the perfect time to join New Park Manor Hotel. All existing spaces are being transformed, including the bedrooms, restaurants, children’s areas, and the spa. The building’s history will inspire the design as a royal hunting lodge as well as the ancient woodland surrounding the manor.


Part of the Luxury Family Hotel Group, New Park Manor is in the heart of the New Forest and is now seeking an experienced and creative Gardener. Position Overview:

As Gardener, you will plan and maintain our gardens to the highest standards. Your role will involve creating and executing our landscaped grounds ensuring New Park Manor maintains its natural beauty as well as planning and growing vegetables for our kitchen garden. Our picturesque grounds play a crucial role in providing a relaxed and enchanting atmosphere for our guests, making the position of Gardener vital to our commitment to providing a true family experience.

This a permanent role, at 40 hours per week (including some weekends), with an hourly rate of £13.50-£14.00, plus generous service charge and a brilliant benefits package.

Key Responsibilities:

- Ensure the hotel grounds are in the best condition for our guests: Your role will ensure the gardens and grounds surrounding the hotel are in the best condition and state of repair and assist with any bespoke areas created for the hotel's use. You will oversee all aspects of garden maintenance, including planting, pruning, and irrigation.
- Planting and Harvesting: Plan, plant, and harvest various vegetables to meet our kitchen's seasonal needs.
- Ensure you and your team have a solid knowledge of health and safety: You will be responsible for the safety of the team and those enjoying the surroundings, raising any health and safety concerns, reporting any equipment damages, and ensuring all equipment and chemicals are used correctly.
- Manage your team in line with our company values: You will be responsible for managing your department and team by management of rotas, assignment of job roles, and monitoring of work.
- Manage the garden budget effectively and efficiently.

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone who has:

- Passion for horticulture and a strong knowledge of plants, shrubs, trees and lawns.
- Proven experience in a similar role, demonstrating a track record of successful garden management.
- Ability to plan and manage a diverse vegetable garden.
- Charisma, an engaging personality and passion for hospitality and providing great service to our guests.
- Leadership skills with the ability to inspire and mentor a small team.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship.
- Good Physical Fitness is essential, to be able to lift at least 25kg following Health and Safety guidelines and be able to stand/walk for prolonged periods.
