The Opportunity

We are looking for an accomplished Chief RF Engineer to join Steatite Antennas in Leominster and take a leading role in shaping the future of our antenna and RF engineering capability.

This is a highly influential position combining deep technical expertise, design authority and senior leadership. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will help set technical direction, influence business and engineering strategy, and provide technical authority across complex antenna and RF programmes.

You will lead antenna design and development activity across RF, microwave and millimetre-wave applications, providing expert direction across electromagnetic modelling, simulation, verification, qualification and technical problem-solving.

What You Will Be Doing

You will:

• Act as the senior technical authority for antenna and RF engineering, providing design governance, technical judgement and direction.
• Lead antenna design, development, optimisation and verification from concept through to validated engineering release and production transfer.
• Provide technical leadership across EM modelling, simulation, design trade-offs, testing, qualification and troubleshooting.
• Act as design authority, leading and supporting design reviews, technical reviews, verification and technical sign-off.
• Own and lead the response to complex customer technical queries, translating highly technical information into clear recommendations.
• Ensure antenna performance is appropriately tested, evidenced and validated against agreed specifications.
• Represent antenna engineering within the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to technical strategy, business priorities, risk management and future capability.
• Work closely with engineering, product, commercial, projects, quality, operations and supply chain teams.
• Mentor and develop engineers, strengthening technical capability and embedding consistently high engineering standards.
• Drive continuous improvement across antenna design, modelling, testing, verification and engineering processes.

What We Are Looking For

You will be an experienced RF and antenna engineering professional with the technical credibility and leadership capability to operate as a senior authority within the business.

You will ideally bring:

• A degree in RF, Microwave, Electronic Engineering, Physics, Antenna Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Extensive industrial experience in antenna and RF engineering.
• A strong track record of taking products or technical solutions from concept through design, test, verification and production transfer.
• Expert knowledge of electromagnetic theory, antenna principles and RF performance.
• Strong practical experience with CST Microwave Studio or equivalent EM simulation tools.
• Hands-on knowledge of antenna testing and verification, including VNAs and chamber-based measurements.
• Experience leading design reviews, technical sign-off and engineering governance/design-authority activities.
• The ability to lead complex technical discussions with customers and senior stakeholders.
• Previous experience mentoring and developing engineers.
• Strong engineering judgement, problem-solving capability and the confidence to operate with significant autonomy and accountability.

Experience within defence, aerospace, communications or another high-reliability/regulated environment would be particularly valuable. Experience at Chief, Principal, Lead or senior technical authority level would also be advantageous.
