Engineering Manager

Contract: Permanent
Salary: $34.50 per hour + great benefits

As Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the engineering department. In the absence of the Director, you will assume the operating aspects of the hotel as they relate to engineering.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and implementing plans to maintain property, equipment, grounds, and other assets in a safe and acceptable state of repair.
  • Ensure the hotel is in compliance with all local, state and federal laws.
  • Supervise and train all Engineering staff in Customer Service, Empowerment, Standard Operating Procedures and Loss Prevention.
  • Ensure all emergency and life safety equipment and systems are inspected, tested, and certified per Doyle Collection standards.
  • Actively participate in sustainability - energy conservation programs.
  • Ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Ensure that room maintenance requests are handled in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Lead and/or participate in the Hotel Safety Committee.
  • Considerable knowledge of mathematical skills necessary to interpret electrical, mechanical, Plumbing, HVAC, BMS, Carpentry and building systems.
  • Considerable knowledge and hands-on of electrical and mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, BMS, Carpentry systems with the ability to analyze their design and intent and performance. Considerable knowledge and to adapt of building infrastructural and its construction.

Specific job knowledge, skill and ability

  • 1 - 2+ years’ experience in an engineering, mechanical or operational manager capacity, preferably within the hospitality field.
  • College (associate) degree preferred. Trade school and/or College course work in related field preferred
  • Experience in luxury hotel operations is preferred.
  • Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Spanish or other language skills would be a plus.
  • Strong Computer literacy to include Microsoft Office Suite and Internet, HRIS programs, and Learning Management systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to read high/low voltage circuitry’s schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Problem solving and Action Plan formulation skills.
  • Ability to perform duties in confined space and in awkward positions.
