People and Culture Officer

The Bloomsbury Hotel is a family-owned luxury hotel with a proud reputation for exceptional hospitality and outstanding guest experiences. We are looking for a highly organised and people-focused People & Culture Officer to join the team at The Bloomsbury Hotel.
Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the People & Culture function, providing support across onboarding, payroll administration, employee lifecycle administration and compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building strong relationships, delivering exceptional service and ensuring a seamless employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operation of the People & Culture department.
- Manage the onboarding process for all new employees, ensuring a positive and compliant start to their employment journey.
- Prepare contracts of employment, offer letters and all associated employee documentation.
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure HR systems are updated in a timely manner.
- Support payroll administration, including processing employee changes, absence records and payroll-related documentation.
- Coordinate uniform ordering, distribution and record keeping.
- Monitor right to work documentation and ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Assist with probation reviews, contract changes and employee lifecycle administration.
- Produce reports and maintain People & Culture data with a high level of accuracy.
- Support audits and ensure employee files and records remain compliant.
- Work closely with the Employer Engagement Executive to support key People initiatives and employee programmes.
- Provide guidance and support to employees and managers on People & Culture processes and procedures.
- Assist with departmental projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills:
- Previous experience within a People & Culture, HR or People Administration role.
- Strong payroll administration experience.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and HR systems.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and positive approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
