Fabric Engineer

Contract: Permanent
Salary: £33,345 & Service Charge

As a Fabric Engineer you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the hotel's physical structure, interior finishes and overall aesthetics ("fabric"). You will role focuse on proactive and reactive maintenance across a variety of general trades, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and tiling. Additionally, you will serve as a versatile team member, providing coverage for Shift Engineers as needed to ensure continuous, seamless hotel operations and exceptional guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities include:

  • Painting & Decorating: Perform touch-up and full painting, wallpaper repairs, plastering, filling, and finishing work in guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house spaces.
  • Carpentry: Execute basic carpentry tasks, including repairing doors, locks, furniture, cabinetry, baseboards and window fixtures.
  • Tiling & Masonry: Repair and replace damaged floor and wall tiles, apply silicone/caulking in bathrooms and kitchens and repair minor grout/plasterwork.
  • General Repairs: Inspect, maintain, and repair fixtures, fittings, artwork, signage and general hotel hardware.
  • Basic Electrical: Safely replace bulbs, light fixtures, outlets, light switches, fuse spur units and reset tripped breakers (within qualified limits).
  • Shift Engineering Coverage: Step in to cover Shift Engineer duties as needed, responding promptly to emergency calls, guest room maintenance requests and general shift handovers.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider maintenance and housekeeping teams to ensure a timely response to faults and breakdowns.
