The Restaurant

Operating in Mayfair for over a decade, Gymkhana is inspired by the bars, social, sports, and members’ clubs of the British Raj in India. It serves contemporary Indian cuisine using seasonal British ingredients, with a strong focus on the tandoori oven. Since its opening in 2013, Gymkhana has garnered numerous accolades, including its first Michelin star and, in 2024, a second Michelin star, making it the first Indian restaurant in London to hold two.The restaurant was also named Restaurant of the Year by Restaurant Magazine and BMW Square Meal in 2014.

As Giles Coren of The Times remarked, "Gymkhana is the best restaurant I have ever been to."

The Position

As Doorman, you are central to creating an outstanding guest experience at the entrance of Gymkhana. You will welcome guests with confidence, warmth, and professionalism, oversee arrivals and departures, support smooth access and guest flow, and collaborate closely with reception and management to deliver a seamless and memorable welcome.
As the first point of contact, you set the tone—refined, attentive, and in complete command of the front-of-house experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Welcome guests warmly and professionally, ensuring an exceptional first and last impression
• Manage guest arrivals, departures, and waiting areas with confidence and efficiency
• Support the reception and host team with guest flow and reservations coordination
• Assist guests with directions, accessibility needs, and general enquiries
• Maintain order and elegance at the entrance, ensuring a calm and controlled environment
• Monitor footfall and communicate effectively with management during busy service periods
• Represent the brand with impeccable standards of presentation and conduct at all times

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Doorman, Concierge, or similar front-facing role in a luxury hotel, restaurant, or private members’ environment
• SIA licence or sponsorship available
• A professional, calm, and welcoming demeanour
• Strong communication skills and confident guest interaction
• Excellent situational awareness and ability to remain composed under pressure
• High standards of personal presentation and grooming
• A genuine passion for hospitality and guest service
• Ownership, accountability, and a proactive attitude
• Drive and ambition to grow within a leading hospitality group
