Reporting to the Workshop Training Manager, you will have responsibility for training and assessing colleagues across the business, from our in house qualifications to brand specific technical training and development, ensuring that all colleagues have the opportunity for development in technical knowledge and skills. You will work as part of the wider training and development team across the cycling area of the group, delivering engaging and effective learning opportunities which will support our reputation for quality service and expert advice

 

1 – The purpose of your role

The purpose of your role is to engage with our colleagues through a diverse range of workshops, providing them with the Workshop training necessary build bikes and to repair and service customers bikes. The Role will be varied and mean visiting different Evans cycles training locations and giving different training throughout the year. This means organizing your current workshop daily duties to leave your workshop and deliver training away from your store.

Also work with the workshop training team on a monthly basis to deliver the highest standards of workshop training to our staff at all times, this high standard reflects back to our customers when they either buy bike or get their own bike serviced in one of our many workshops across the country.

Your role doesn’t just stop there! You are also responsible for contributing towards the departments learning & development strategy, including the development of our bike builder & mechanic courses, as well as our e-learning programmes & helping with other training and training events.

2 - Key responsibilities

Deliver engaging & interactive training & development to our workshop colleagues that meet the business’ key learning & development objectives.

Be ready and organized at the venue prior to any training or assessment you are running.

Run several training courses or assessments per calendar month.

Creating content for our E-learning platform as part of a blended learning experience with other workshops & courses ensuring the content is creative and relevant, matching the business needs and goals.

Help develop the Evans Cycles Bike Builder & Mechanic training courses content to go forward.

Give feedback to the training team weekly on all aspects of training that will help improve assessments or training.

Complete course or assessment reports feeding back on training outcomes and any further development needs.

Develop your own knowledge by progressing with online training, through Veloversity, Trek U, Cycling Prophet & Shimano TEC.

Provide support to other training sessions where required.

Help support your current workshop team through their training programs as and where applicable.

Managing our selection of demo products. Take accountability for the safety, security & maintenance of all training kits & equipment.

Manage your own delegate list for all courses and workshops, feeding back where needed on lateness and non-attendance.

Brand Ambassador: You are an ambassador for our brand; from the way you present yourself to the knowledge you have of our brand and the enthusiasm and motivation that drives everything you do. Your role is to uphold the Evans Cycles image at all times.

Those ad hoc duties: As with all roles, you may at times be required to carry out ad hoc duties; whether that is to support another team member, to take on additional responsibilities or to get involved in project work that may impact not only on your workshop but also the wider business.

3 - Our expectations

Required

  • To have completed Evans Cycles Bike Builder and Mechanic training or be qualified to Cytech Technical 2 or above or other equitant qualifications
  • Experience in a bicycle workshop and retail environment
  • Experience and knowledge of our key brands and their products, including but not limited to, Trek, Cannondale, Brompton and Specialized.
  • To be able to maintain a good balance between work life and personal life.
  • Fantastic communication skills, able to adapt your approach dependant on your audience
  • Capable of managing your own diary, working with store managers to ensure colleagues attend training and assessments
  • An enthusiastic & proactive approach to everything you do.
  • Able to engage, motivate & inspire.Creative & innovative thinking, and able to problem solve.
  • To be flexible and show a team spirit, to support the workshop team. (For example to carry out training or assessments if another team member can’t attend a date)
  • Confident training or presenting to small or large groups of people.
  • Able to build & maintain effective working relationships with colleagues & external partners.
  • A sound understanding of Microsoft programmes, especially PowerPoint.
  • Flexibility of working hours around your current workshop.
  • Happy to travel with some overnight stays.
  • Be able to deliver training in different training/assessment locations.

Desired

  • Experience in designing & delivering training sessions.
  • Previous experience creating E-learning content.
  • You don’t have to be a pro cyclist, just love riding bikes of any kind and be happy to go for a ride from time to time.
  • Great impact & influencing skills.
  • Flexibility to work where ever is requested.
