Cedar Lodge Care Home is located in Taunton, Somerset, and provides specialist dementia, palliative, and respite care for up to 39 residents, alongside The Limes, a dedicated mental health community supporting a further 15 individuals. The home offers a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment, with a strong focus on personalised care, dignity, and resident wellbeing.
Head Chef
- £13.85 per hour
- Contracted to 40 hours per week (8am – 5pm, including alternate weekends)
- Paid DBS, Pension scheme, Uniform provided
- 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full-time contract)
Role Overview
As Head Chef, you will lead our kitchen and bring joy to residents through delicious, nutritious meals. You’ll plan menus, prepare dishes, manage stock, and supervise the kitchen team, ensuring every meal is tasty, balanced, and presented with care.
Working closely with the Home Manager and Group Executive Chef, you’ll create menus that use fresh, seasonal ingredients while staying within budget. You’ll support your team to work efficiently, maintain high food hygiene standards, and keep the kitchen a safe and welcoming space.
This role combines creativity, leadership, and teamwork, giving you the chance to make a real difference in residents’ daily lives – while enjoying a structured 8am–5pm schedule and a healthy work-life balance, including alternate weekends off to rest and recharge.
What We’re Looking For
- Passionate about cooking and creating meals that residents enjoy
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support your team
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage a busy kitchen efficiently
- Positive, collaborative attitude with excellent communication skills
- Experience in a care or healthcare setting is a bonus, but not essential
