Location: Rockliffe, Darlington

Salary: £14.15 per hour

Hours: Fulltime – 40 hours per week (including weekends)

Reporting to: Fitness Manager

Job Purpose:

To provide a ‘best in class’ fitness experience promoting activity within the gym, kinesis and class studio. To deliver an environment in which the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone using the facilities is the key focus of the team. To consistently and enthusiastically achieve operational standards.

Key responsibilities of the Fitness Specialist:

• Use Wellness System maximise member retention and recognise opportunities to promote the gym and fitness offer to spa day and hotel users
• To be aware of secondary income opportunities within the gym, kinesis and class studio
• To be product aware for promotion of treatments and retail
• To embrace the wellness system in its entirety
• To work and co-operate with others by taking part in departmental meetings, team briefings and project work
• Support other spa team members in providing assistance when necessary to ensure the team collectively achieve their goals
• To attend all training and development sessions to gain in-depth knowledge and skills required for the role
• To show reliability, dignity and respect to all Spa colleagues
• Use current guest and member journeys to provide outstanding service to all gym users
• Respond promptly and effectively to all guest and member requests and queries
• Ensure accurate and up to date guest and member records are maintained
• Develop and maintain excellent product knowledge and use it to deliver the benefits of the product to guests and members
• Continuity of standards of cleanliness with regards to presentation of the gym, kinesis and class studios
• Assist in maintaining standards across the spa and identifying new and improved ways to exceed customer expectations within the gym, kinesis and class studios
• Ensure that all flow training modules are complete by the required dates
• Adheres to all departmental standard operating procedures
• Maintains high confidentiality in regards to guest privacy ensuring all tasks are completed in compliance with the data protection act
• Understanding relevant health and safety legislation and the implications on the operation of the department
• Fully understands the hotel’s fire procedure
• Ensure all obligatory checks are carried out and recorded
• Ensure that all leisure compliance diary checks are completed and signed
• Adhere to all pool maintenance procedures
• Ensure that safe and healthy working practises as set out by the Spa health and safety policy are adhered to at all times and that any potential and real hazards are reported appropriately immediately
• Attend all health and safety training
• Maintains own working area, keeping materials clean, tidy and in good shape and reports any defective materials and equipment to the manager
• Maintains the highest standards of personal hygiene, dress, uniform, appearance, body language and conduct
