Salary: €35,216 - €50,954 per annum (based on a 39-hour work week)
Upcoming Salary Increases: Sector-wide agreement with a 9.25% increase over the next two years

About the Role

Are you looking for a role with a difference? We are currently hiring a Horticulturalist, in a Social Care setting on a Specified Purpose contract of employment, 0.50 WTE.

The Horticulturalist role, in a Social Care setting, was developed to introduce a horticulturalist-based therapeutic programme. This role has been designed around supporting people with diverse capabilities and needs based of diverse capabilities and needs.

The role works in cooperation with the care needs of each person supported which is done via continuous reviews and assessments within the location.

A key purpose of this post is to provide ongoing maintenance and development of garden/recreational spaces to use as both therapeutic and amenity spaces for those supported. It will also involve supporting CE (community employment) staff in the location.

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join a highly motivated team from a variety of backgrounds including social care, psychology and mental health.
The successful candidate will display initiative by thinking of and recommending suitable improvements to programmes. They will support the service in motivating the staff team to work with a common sense of purpose and enthusiasm towards identifying and supporting the needs of people supported.

Essential Qualifications:

• Qualification in Horticultural or experience
• Evidence of continuous professional development

Essential Criteria:

• Ability to promote independence in individuals with support needs.
• Experience of working in a Similar Role
• Have knowledge of the disabilities sector

Desirable Criteria:

• Full Irish Driver’s License

Core Aptitudes:

• Act as a good role model
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
