Rockliffe
Set within a 375-acre estate on the banks of the River Tees, Rockliffe is a five-star resort that blends heritage, luxury and natural beauty. Located in the quiet village of Hurworth, in the heart of the Tees Valley and close to the borders of County Durham and North Yorkshire, it offers a peaceful countryside setting with exceptional facilities.
Surrounded by sweeping views and beautifully kept gardens, the resort features elegant bedrooms and a sense of quiet luxury, shaped by a warm northern spirit. Guests can enjoy an award-winning spa, play on the longest golf course in the UK and experience refined fine dining, all within a restored eighteenth century estate designed for both relaxation and indulgence.
Receptionist
First impressions matter. And at Rockliffe, we want them to be exceptional.
We’re looking for a warm, confident and engaging luxury resort Receptionist to join our Front of House team and help create memorable experiences for every guest who walks through our doors.
As one of the first people our guests meet, and often the last person they see before leaving, you’ll play an important part in bringing the Rockliffe experience to life.
This is much more than checking guests in and out. It’s about recognising what each guest needs, anticipating the little things that make a difference and delivering genuine five-star hospitality from arrival to departure.
The Role
As Receptionist, you’ll be at the heart of the resort, working closely with our Reception Manager, Reception Supervisor, Concierge, Duty Management team and colleagues across the hotel.
You’ll ensure every arrival is seamless, every departure leaves the right impression and everything in between feels effortless for our guests.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Welcoming guests and delivering a warm, professional and personalised arrival experience
• Managing guest check-ins and departures smoothly and efficiently
• Delivering tailored rooming experiences and introducing guests to the resort
• Building an understanding of individual guest preferences to help create personalised stays
• Responding to guest enquiries face-to-face, by telephone and via email
• Anticipating guest needs and following requests through to completion
• Maintaining excellent communication between Reception and departments across the resort
• Taking accurate hotel and resort reservations when required
• Identifying opportunities to enhance a guest’s stay through thoughtful upselling
• Ensuring payments, charges and revenue are processed and reconciled accurately
• Preparing and distributing key operational information and guest reports
• Working closely with Concierge and Duty Management to support guest safety, security and service
• Providing clear and detailed handovers between shifts
Above all, you’ll be someone our guests can rely on – whether they need a restaurant recommendation, help organising part of their stay, have a special request or simply want a friendly face at the end of a busy day.
About You
You don’t necessarily need to have spent years working behind a five-star reception desk.
What matters is that you genuinely enjoy looking after people.
You’ll be naturally welcoming, confident speaking with guests and comfortable adapting your approach to different people and situations.
You’ll also understand that luxury service is often about the smallest details – remembering a name, noticing a preference or resolving something before the guest ever needs to ask twice.
We’re looking for someone who brings:
• A genuine passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional service
• A warm, confident and professional personality
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail
• The ability to remain calm and organised in a busy environment
• A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of guest requests
• A positive attitude and strong team spirit
• Confidence using technology and learning hotel systems
• A commercial mindset and the confidence to recommend and upsell resort experiences
Previous experience within a luxury hotel, resort, hospitality or premium customer service environment would be an advantage, but personality, attitude and a genuine desire to deliver exceptional hospitality are just as important.
Be Part of the Guest Experience
At Rockliffe, our guests come to us for more than somewhere to stay. They come to relax, celebrate, escape and create memories.
As a member of our Reception team, you’ll have the opportunity to be part of those experiences every day.
You’ll join a passionate Front of House team, work across an exceptional luxury resort environment and have the opportunity to develop your career within five-star hospitality.
If you’re someone who loves people, notices the details and takes pride in making others feel genuinely welcome, we’d love to hear from you.
Your next chapter in luxury hospitality could start here. Apply today.
In return, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits designed to look after you while helping you develop your career, including:

• Spa and gym access
• Generous savings on spa treatments, dining, retail and resort experiences
• Exclusive team accommodation rates and reduced friends & family stays
• Access to Hospitality Rewards
• Employee Assistance Programme and health & wellbeing support
