Site Maintenance Engineer

Durham

Our Durham Bakery and Offices are situated in the Land of the Prince Bishops - home to the famous Norman Cathedral and Castle. We are just off the A1 on the Dragonville Industrial Estate.

Job Purpose
As Site Maintenance Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the continuous running of equipment and machinery in the Bakery. You’ll oversee routine maintenance and organise repairs.

We are offering a competitive salary for this full-time role which is vital to the efficiency, development and progress of production. Working with the Assistant Site Engineer you’ll improve production facilities, reduce the incidence of costly breakdowns and develop strategies to improve the overall reliability and safety in the Bakery.

Key Accountabilities

• Design maintenance strategies, procedures and methods
• Carry out routine maintenance work and respond to equipment faults
• Diagnose breakdown problems
• Fit new parts and make sure equipment is working correctly
• Carry out quality inspections on jobs
• Arrange specialist procurement of fixtures, fittings or components
• Control maintenance tools, stores and equipment
• Monitor and control maintenance costs
• Deal with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs
• Work collaboratively with Bakery Management to improve on-site health & safety
• Ensure there is continuous cover of the machinery and equipment in case of breakdowns

Skills, Know-How & Experience

• Previous engineering experience within food production is essential
• Ability to prioritise and organize workload, putting in place robust effective plans
• Ability to set clear priorities and goals and delegate tasks
• Excellent communication skills, with ability to build relationships, share best practice and communicate effectively with colleagues at other sites
• Proactive, innovative and co-operative approach to work
• Flexibility to work unsociable hours, offering out of hours support as required to minimize down time
• Fully qualified electrician
