An exciting opportunity has arisen within one of JRL Group's key divisions; Trent Precast Concrete Ltd.

The JRL Group is a highly successful, privately owned, national construction group head quartered in North London. With a turnover of in excess of £360m, the business is currently experiencing growth and as such seeks to strengthen our Precast team.

Trent Precast specializes in the manufacture and delivery of structural precast concrete units based in the heart of the country in Nottingham.

We are currently recruiting an experienced Steel Fixer to join our production team at our Skelmersdale site. This is a permanent opportunity for a skilled individual with experience working with reinforcement steel in a precast or construction environment.

Hours: 06:00am - 15:00pm - Monday to Friday.
Weekly Pay on PAYE + Benefits
Interviews will be held on site. You must have the right to work in the UK.
Location: Nottingham

Key Responsibilities of a Steel Fixer

  • Cut, bend, and fix reinforcement steel (rebar and mesh) in accordance with drawings and specifications.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and reinforcement schedules accurately.
  • Assemble steel cages and reinforcement frameworks for precast concrete units.
  • Secure steel using tying wire, clips, and other fixing methods.
  • Work safely around cranes, lifting equipment, and heavy materials.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working area at all times.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors and production teams to meet daily targets and deadlines.

Key Requirements of a Steel Fixer

  • Previous experience as a Steel Fixer within construction or precast concrete is essential.
  • Ability to read and understand reinforcement drawings.
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools relevant to steel fixing.
  • Good awareness of manual handling and safe lifting practices.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
