Role: Design Manager
Hours: 08:00am – 18:00pm, Monday to Friday, 50 hours a week

Responsibilities:
1. Drawing Review and Reporting:
o Review all incoming technical drawings and design documents for accuracy and feasibility, focusing on the requirements for moulds in precast production.
o Report findings and recommendations to top management, highlighting any potential issues or requirements for moulds and other production-related elements.
2. Material Planning and Procurement:
o Plan and order/request quotes for cast-in materials required for precast components, ensuring alignment with the production schedule.
o Collaborate with buyers to ensure timely delivery of materials and manage any delays with suppliers, communicating potential impacts to the production and site teams.
3. Team Supervision and Documentation:
o Supervise a team of Document Controller and an Assistant Design Manager to ensure all project reports and necessary documentation for design and quality are accurately maintained.
o Ensure that all quality and design documentation is complete, accurate, and accessible.
4. Feasibility and Production Support:
o Evaluate the feasibility of unit buildability based on design drawings, taking into consideration production limitations and challenges.
o Attend weekly production planning meetings to discuss potential delays in material supply and any issues that could affect the production timeline.
5. Design Review Meetings:
o Attend and chair design review meetings for precast elements, providing guidance on design requirements and ensuring that all necessary tools and information are available to the operatives.
6. Supplier and Stakeholder Communication:
o Work closely with suppliers to manage the timely delivery of materials, addressing any potential delays and informing the site of any impacts on project timelines.
7. Operational Support and Issue Resolution:
o Assist shop floor operatives by resolving queries and providing clarification on design details.
o Raise any discrepancies or queries to the Design team in the Head Office, particularly in cases of clashes or variations between General Arrangement (GA) and unit drawings.
8. Quality Assurance:
o Verify and close out details on field view forms used for quality purposes, ensuring all quality control measures are met.
Requirements:
• 5 yrs+ Experience within precast & structural components detailing and manufacturing essential.
• CEng / MICE or working towards would be advantageous.
• Experience within Design and manufacture.
• Experience of using CAD software and ability to work on own initiative.
