Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Location: Birmingham City Centre
Midgard is the main contracting division of the +£750m turnover JRL Group and utilises all the company's in-house resources and facilities to provide clients with a bespoke construction service. We have gone back to the time when contractors carried out work themselves with a dedicated, reliable workforce and their own fleet of plant and equipment.
Due JRL Group building three of the tallest towers in Birmingham, we are seeking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team the West Midlands. The ideal candidate will have a tenacious attitude, with a desire to succeed and progress in their career. They will demonstrate a positive proactive approach to the role, and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence, with good commercial results.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure cash flow is maximized.
- Ensure that business targets and KPI's are exceeded.
- Preparation of monthly cost value reports for area, together with review of results.
- Production of commercial reports, reviewing results and considering trends.
- Physical measurement of works and agreement of same with client and subcontractors.
- Agreement of certification and payment of subcontractor accounts.
- Implementation and compliance with the contract change control procedure and monitoring thereof including notices to client as appropriate.
- Managing sub-contractors.
- Sending out enquiries, collating prices, comparing with tender and negotiation.
- Preparing valuations for interim application for payment including variations.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of current forms of contract.
- Strong commercial mind.

- Excellent negotiation skills.
