Our Central Support Office based in Gosforth is the bustling hub of Parkdean Resorts. This exciting place to work houses all the essential supporting functions for our 67 holiday parks along with our award winning Contact Centre.

Paralegal

Our Legal team plays a key part in helping the business to achieve its objectives. We provide legal advice and assistance to our 67 holiday parks, as well as other support functions which are mainly based at our central office in Gosforth. The work is fast-paced, varied and technically challenging.

The team has six solicitors: the General Counsel, the Head of Legal, three Senior Solicitors, and a Solicitor. We also include the General Counsel’s Executive Assistant and a Licensing Manager.

We deal with an incredible variety of work, and no two days are the same. One day you could be dealing with queries from other areas of the business, another day you might be helping to maintain and consolidate the Legal team’s internal records. You could be dealing with customer or supplier disputes, reviewing contracts, conducting legal research or delivering internal training.

Your key responsibilities will include:

The Legal team deals with a very wide range of areas of law, and you will gain high quality experience of dealing with these with support and supervision from the solicitors in the team:

▫ Commercial contracts;
▫ Supplier disputes;
▫ Real estate transactions;
▫ Real estate disputes;
▫ Planning;
▫ Consumer protection;
▫ Marketing and advertising;
▫ Travel law;
▫ Licensing law (alcohol and gambling).

  • Monitoring our Legal inbox, which acts as the primary way for the business to ask us for advice. You will respond to as many queries as you can, with help and support from other members of the team.
  • Managing your own matters under the supervision of one of the solicitors, and assisting on larger cases.
  • You will have responsibility for our concession agreements, which permit third parties to trade from our holiday parks. You will work with the park teams to ensure that concessions are renewed when required and that all details and information are captured and kept up to date.
  • Developing and implementing a strategy for managing our intellectual property assets.
  • You will be involved in producing regular updates for the business to be released via the team’s Facebook Workplace channel.
  • Assisting with the management of our site licence database, and assist in rectifying any actual or potential breaches.
  • Assisting with management of our public and employee liability claims, providing instructions to our external lawyers who deal with these claims where needed.
  • You will take responsibility for/assist with any other projects or ad hoc work that you might be asked to help with.

The successful Person will have the following:

Education:

▫ A qualifying law degree; or
▫ A non-law degree and GDL; or
▫ ACILEx or above.

We would prefer it if you had successfully completed the LPC, but this is not essential.

Skills:

  • You should be prepared to take the initiative and progresses tasks independently and with minimal active supervision.
  • You must have excellent organisational skills and be able to prioritise tasks and ensure that work is completed on time. You must have the flexibility to adapt as new work becomes necessary.
  • The role involves lots of communication with stakeholders at all levels. You may need to use email, but since our people working on park do not work on a computer all day, we prefer to communicate via Skype/telephone or even face-to-face if the park is nearby. It’s really important that you have the confidence and the interpersonal skills to get your message across in this way.
  • You must know how to perform effective legal research and have a genuine desire to keep developing your legal knowledge.
  • You must have a good working knowledge of LexisLibrary, Practical Law, and Microsoft Office.
