When did you leave the military?

What attracted you to join our company and this role?

When leaving the military joining Steatite seemed like the natural choice. I wanted to join Steatite as they deliver best of breed communications equipment to the UK MoD. Due to my background as communicator in the military I felt I could add value to the team. In addition, I believed the technology would benefit the war fighter and that is something I’m passionate about.

Communications, problem solving, leadership.

What strengths do ex-forces personnel bring to our business?

Ability to work in a team, an understanding of the customers’ requirements, hardworking, communications .

How have you developed or progressed since joining?

I joined Steatite providing technical support for the Wave Relay product range. I was gradually introduced to the commercial aspects of the role and was empowered to transition into a technical sales role. Working closely with colleagues and management I developed the commercial skill that enabled me to move into a Business Development role. Whilst in this role Steatite provide leadership and management training which allowed me to progress to senior business development manager heading up the Communications Business Unti Sales team.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Working with best of breed technology that really benefits the war fight and working with likeminded people who have the end customers interest at heart.

Advice

What advice would you give to someone leaving the Forces and considering applying here?

Whether you are looking for something technical, sales or project based your military experience is transferrable into multiple roles. Steatite is a company with great culture where you really feel part of the team.

Would you recommend us to other veterans? Why?

Steatite has a great culture and although we are growing there is still a family feel.
