The Job

As the Territory Trading Manager you will be the key interface between the Global Buying and Merchandising teams and our international partners to potentialise all sales and profit opportunities and execute the vision, strategy and plan for your territory.

Day to Day

  • As a territory expert you will be working with internal (Logistics, Finance, VM, Marketing, Digital and Retail) and external stakeholders to create a vision, strategy and plan for your territory, looking at both short and long-term opportunities.
  • You will be the key point of contact for your partners, including day-to-day management of the relationship and feedback on any commercial decisions.
  • Owning and managing all business KPI’s for the territory.
  • Driving the overall seasonal, annual and strategic business / department plans.
  • Identifying risks / opportunities in market and proactively driving market performance to achieve full sales potential.
  • Filtering and evaluating insights to deliver meaningful and impactful actions for the Global BandM teams.
  • Liaising with Planning to input into the market and store profiling process from a territory perspective, ensuring accuracy of the store profiles ‘store bible’.
  • Overall trading of the territory, including managing the territory stock levels, potentialising trading of the stock in your market by store to deliver maximum sales and profit.
  • Owning pricing architecture for the market with the partner, including implications of external fluctuations and ensuring parity within territory (internally and with competitors), including performing regular comp shops.
  • Regularly reviewing product department performance with Global BandM teams to maximise current commercial opportunities and to identify key learns to optimise profit on the next season range.
  • Advising on promotional strategies for the territory (in alignment with brands), including action plans for slow sellers with partner.
  • Working with Retail, Marketing, VM and Digital to plan and implement opportunities and coordination of any events.
  • Alongside the Global Buyers, you will be leading partner visits in market where you will be gaining insight, conducting business reviews and driving growth in the region.
  • As a senior member of the International team you will be expected to deputise in the absence of the Head of Territory and be a key point of contact both internally and externally.
  • Delivering store development plans and accountable for range sign-off with product teams when new stores are opening.
  • Bringing ‘the outside in’ - seeking long-term solutions for the international business based on clear understanding of external market and role model best practice across the wider department.
  • Driving results through effective team and individual performance, setting clear goals and managing accountability.
  • Recognising and encouraging outstanding performance and managing poor performance effectively.

Must Haves

  • Passion for the TOPSHOP TOPMAN brands and strong customer knowledge.
  • Previous experience in an international trading role at a senior level.
  • Previous experience working in a fast paced global multi-channel retailer.
  • A strategic thinker who is open-minded and flexible.
  • Ability to influence at all levels with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to spot commercial opportunities.
  • Ability to draw meaningful insights from data and feedback.
  • Ability to propose solutions to partners and Global BandM teams in line with brand strategy.

  • Demonstrate experience in building consistently productive relationships.

  • This role will require travel and time being spent in market based on the needs of the business.
