The Job

As the Beauty Trading Manager at TOPSHOP you will be responsible for developing and driving TOPSHOP’s global Beauty & Cosmetics strategy, leading and inspiring the Beauty team to develop and deliver innovative product ranges and drive profit.

Day To Day

  • Strategy & Product Opportunities
  • Responsible for developing and driving TOPSHOP’s global Beauty & Cosmetic strategy.
  • Constantly reviewing TOPSHOP’s current Beauty trading outlets and markets and looking for opportunities to drive profit.
  • Review and develop TOPSHOP’s Beauty Wholesale strategy – execute strategic wholesale processes, range catalogue, procedures and booking system requirements.
  • Regularly reviews business processes to continually drive improvements and ensure maximum efficiency and high performance.
  • Work with the Marketing Director to develop strong and consistent marketing messages / brand image.
  • Identify promotional / marketing opportunities for brand and execute these with the Marketing team.
  • Operates as a strategic business manager, overseeing the teams and their processes, demonstrating best practise.
  • Analyses trading patterns, advising teams and ensures appropriate action is taken to unforeseen sales reactions.
  • Offers advice and helps find solutions to the wide range of issues encountered by the teams – acts as trouble-shooter.
  • Product Development
  • Ensuring the delivery of a balanced, commercial & innovative beauty range; looking at price point, quality, formulas, colours and packaging.Responsible for driving and maintaining high quality standards.
  • Finding new ways of improving existing production processes.
  • Market Awareness
  • Displays an in-depth, customer-focused knowledge of market and trends,
  • Manage and brief market specific needs in terms of regulatory, logistics, legality and PR &Marketing.
  • Team Management & Stakeholder Management
  • Defines and communicates a clear vision for the future and translates this into understandable goals and targets.
  • Build a strong team by inspiring and nurturing the development of all direct reports.
  • Builds and maintains a strong, varied network of contacts and communicates with all to achieve win-win situations.
  • Be able to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external third parties/suppliers.

Must Haves

  • Proven experience of managing a significant Beauty & Cosmetics business with product expertise and specialist knowledge of the sector.
  • Product development experience
  • Solid knowledge of the beauty market, able to predict upcoming trends and use this to support product development.
  • Possess excellent commercial awareness and ability to drive profit.
  • Combines a creative, innovative approach with commercial ideas.
  • Self starter with the ability to work under minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Strong team player and man manager - able to gain trust, respect and confidence quickly and effectively.
  • The proven ability to negotiate and drive performance of external as well as internal teams.
  • Enthusiasm, energy and determination to achieve results.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – being able to quickly establish effective relationships at all levels (internal and external) with gravitas and strength.
  • Strong and convincing presentation skills – able to get ideas across quickly and effectively and gain relevant buy-in and support.
  • Good analytical skills, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Able to proactively identify and analyse problems and propose commercial solutions.
