This position will report to the Operations Manager and provide technical and production leadership to a plant based in China. This position is responsible for technical and production aspects of the manufacturing process and associated equipment. This includes continual improvement in all key performance indicators. This position will work closely to HSE Manager, QA Manager, and will help Operations Manager to supervise production, maintenance, purchasing, and QC departments.

Located in China. The contract will be for 5 years minimum, as a freelance, and includes one month of training in France, 4 travels to Europe for holidays per year and an indemnity for house, electricity, gas, internet.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and monitor production and quality metrics to ensure an optimal plant operation and accurate reporting.
  • Continually optimize production operations to maximize the Efficiency and On-Stream-Time of the manufacturing equipment.
  • Lead safety training, conduct behavior based safety audits, and provide a strong safety presence in the plant.
  • Develop, revise and review standard operating procedures to meet ISO9001.
  • Minimize/eliminate out of specification production by efficiently troubleshooting process issues and ensuring equipment is maintained in the condition that is required.
  • Conduct thorough/appropriate non-conforming product and customer complaint investigations necessary to identify root causes and effective corrective/preventive action to continuously reduce the amount of off-spec production and customer complaints.
  • Investigate/identify causes of waste generation in order to minimize the amount of waste generated.
  • Train the salaried and hourly staff, as appropriate, on technical matters.
  • Initiate and develop justification, scope of work and submit engineering projects for approval.
  • Initiate and define project work scope, develop preliminary design documentation, author or review Requests for Quotation.
  • Identify and communicate with qualified vendors, evaluate and recommend vendor proposals.
  • Prepare status reports and presentations and lead meetings involving engineering projects.
  • Provide process and/or engineering expertise to assist in process improvement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering and/or Master Degree in Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Full availability to move to China.
  • Advanced level of English is a must; Chinese is a plus.
  • Experience in construction, modification of chemical plants.
  • Experience in the supervision of the production and administrative functions.
  • Experience in commissioning and initial plant startup Yokogawa DCS and data acquisition systems experience is a plus.
