Work Experience at the London Branches IMPORTANT NOTICE: Because of the high levels of interest we can no longer accept any more applications for Work Experience in 2010. The Imperial War Museum is able to offer work experience placements to students aged between 14 and 18. As a work experience student, you should be mature and sensible, show a passion for history and be enthusiastic about the work of the Museum. The Museum can accommodate placements in a wide variety of departments. In addition to the main building on Lambeth Road, there are also opportunities to work at our other London sites: Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms and HMS Belfast. How to apply Placements get booked very early, and it is best to apply as soon as you can, preferably at least three months in advance. Work experience is generally offered for one week. The best times of the year for the Museum are between April and August. Placements should be applied for with the full knowledge of your school, and a school contact name must be given with your application. Please send a letter or email indicating the following:
This should be sent to:
Jan Manthey All correspondence will be directly through the student or the student's school. PLEASE NOTE: Because of the high levels of interest, placements cannot be found for all applicants. Some departments are heavily oversubscribed. Many other factors also limit the availability of work experience placements, such as staff time available for supervision and events scheduled in the Museum. |
